The Heart of the Matter Weekly Meme

This week over at The heart of the matter, the meme is what is your favorite home school product! Its been very fun to look and see what everyone treasures are! So if you have a few... try to stop by and take a look!

Now for my favorite product/s *Ü*

Tapestry of Grace
is my all time favorite home school product!
It is everything I love about different curriculum's in one! I have been able to teach all 3 of my children on the same topic each week, using a literature/unit study approach. TOG follows the classic model, recognizing children learn in different stages like the grammar levels, dialect also called logic and rhetoric. I can take TOG light, or heavy and also in between. The work has been done for me, I just decide how we want to proceed and what books to choose...I love this curriculum!

Now right along with Tapestry of Grace... I love page protectors!! I love to write and take notes, so I place every page (yup every) in a page protector so if I want to, I can write and note till my hearts content!

My next favorite is RyLees Spanish! Its called La Clase Divertida level 1. Besides math, this has become RyLees favorite part of the day. She is able to do this independent of me as well and loves it! She watches a dvd, has a work book to fill out each week, vocabulary, crafts and recipes to make for every lesson. This has been a big hit with her and she cant wait to move on to the next box! Level 2. This will be soon.

I have a new magnetic white board in my dining room... and it gets used a lot... but I have something I love even more! Its an expandable chart stand with paper! I bought it from Discount School Supply Store online. Its been the best! All the vocabulary all the examples of writing.... mini timeline with history.. you name it... I don't erase things any more and re write! I just flip the page! I love it.... I never would have thought about buying one... seriously, but my friend Jessica over at Trivium Academy had one... and well... you know... I had to have one too! *Ü*

My last, but not least favorite is Accountable kids.
This has been a plus with Rylee. Its a chore chart, but also rewards accomplished tasks. I became a cheerleader and not the nag with this one. I'm not sure why I couldn't use my old chore chart this way with her and get the same results.... but it has been a blessing... It put the responsibility to accomplish school, chores or what ever task I assign that day... squarely on her shoulders. No one is to blame but herself if it doesn't get done.... Its been a great aid and visual help with chores, accountability and character in doing a job well done.

Live and Learns products have been fantastic this year and fit nicely in our science and history studies...I could go on and on... but I guess I need to stop at some point right. Sorry I couldn't choose one!

Don't forget, many others are participating today! Stop by The Heart of The Matter and take a look! Its been fun!

These are great ideas- I am going to have to incorporate ....most if not all of them! I have seriously been thinking about TOG for next year!
Thanks

Man, everyone is talking about TOG!! It is luring me in.

I love page protectors also. I should have thought about that since I could own stock in the company with as much as I buy.

I have an expandible chart (with a pocket chart on it) and we love it. I've looked at the large pads of paper but they are priced between $15-25 each. Have you been able to find them cheaper than that?

Wow, what great ideas! I'm leaning toward classical education, but I also like the idea of unit studies, so I'll have to check into Tapestry of Grace. I love page protectors, too. I used to use flip charts all the time in my English classroom; I don't know why I haven't thought of them for homeschooling! I have checked out the website for Accountable Kids and thought it seemed like a good idea, but I'm glad to have somebody who's used it and had good results. Thanks for sharing!

First, thanks for stopping by my site (and leaving a comment)! :)

And, seriously, I SO feel your love for paper protectors!! One of my faves, too.

I will check out the Spanish - - we REALLY need to add foreign language into our day -- and that just sounds FUN!! : )

Thanks for sharing!! : )

I've looked at Accountable Kids and La Clase Divertida before and I think I'm going to look at them again after reading here. Thank you for sharing! How old is RyLee? I scanned around, but didn't see----I'm just wondering since she does the Spanish independently. My daughter is still fairly young, but I'd like to start Spanish with her as she's picked up some from our Boca Beth cd's and shows here and there.

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog! :-)

I love it! I really want to use TOG at some point as well -- not sure if we will start in first grade or wait till 4th/5th, but I love to hear your thoughts and enthusiasm about it! I am also filing away the info on the Spanish! We live in Houston, so learning Spanish is a given, but I want it to be fun. This seems perfect

Thanks for sharing

Daisy... discount school supply has 1 inch lined paper for $10.45 but then you have shipping. I bought about 4 or 5 extra pads when I bought the stand to get free shipping...They also have one that is 1 and 1/2 lined size with blue lines and its only 6.99.. your best bet is to google... you should be able to find them for under 7 $ no problem... *Ü*

This has been a fun meme! Your blog is beautiful...it reminds me of vacation with the sand and the starfish, and the tranquil colors. Very nice! :)

Page protectors are awesome. Now I want to change my list to add them, too...lol.

Happy Homeschooling!

I am so excited about TOG - I think that will be one of my favorites once my DD is old enough for us to use it :)

I have looked at Accountable Kids before and wasn't sure how well it would work for us. Now that I know someone who is using it with success, I might have to look into it again.

Great list Lisa! There would be no way I could choose just one either, lol.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. My dear hubby is finally doing much better. He actually came back home Thurs. morning from work-he was still way to sick to go. I refrained from saying "I told you so" because I felt sorry for him.
~Have a blessed week-end.

Now, I just should've had that chore thingy a looong time ago. They always come out with neat stuff when you dc are a little older. You have some great favs. I love that chart stand. Seems like a lot of TOG favs with this meme. Must be really great. Oh yeah,Lisa, I think you have OCD with the laminator sheets. LOL

Kysha, about those page protectors... you have no idea how bad I have it.... lol When I put all my pages for TOG in a binder.... it fills 1 3inch D Ring binder per unit. That’s 4 units, 4 binders.... and with the classic we also have what they call the base, and writing component... that’s 2 more binders! You nailed this one on the head my dear... lol

Patricia... I love accountable kids.... the only time it doesn’t work well is when I don’t change the cards! lol As long as I do that... Ry does the rest.... I only change the cards if I need to add or take something out... but it has become routine...I love it...

I'm a page protector gal myself -- with my fat TOG binders. :) Everything you love looks great. I'm going to have to look into the big paper, it would be nice to write something down and not have the 2yo accidentally erase it!
