Green Hour Challenge
The Koinonia Academy green hour challenge actually started with just RyLee. She went hiking with some friends on Saturday. She didnt take many pictures, ok actually she took 3! Here are the 2 that we can show.
The Olympics Mountains and a view of the Hood Canal.
MT. Rainier
They went hiking about 5 minutes or so from our house called Green Mountain trail head. I have yet to walk it. This will be another outing for another green hour challenge.
Yesterday, RyLee and I went for a walk in the late afternoon. We only went around our property and down our drive way.
Here are the pictures RyLee took
Rhododendron from the Greek: rhodos, "rose", and dendron, "tree"(Washington State flower and flowerless at the moment)
Bear claw marked territory near our driveway RyLee wanted to share this *Ü*
A few I took
Ms Ry
As far as we can tell, this is called Bracket Fungi. We are still trying to decide what one though.
Bear mark
We are not sure. Still looking.... I love the colors though.
Our Lunar Eclipse
So this was our first green challenge. Next week we will hit Clear Creek trail. This is about 25 minute drive from our home, but its a great trail!

Awesome photos! Love the ones of the bear marks...we are focusing on mammals this term so we would love to be able to see that. :)
I am really glad you came back and posted a link on Mr. Linky. It is so encouraging to see what everyone is doing this week. Can you believe you were the 26th link!!!
Looking forward to next week.

Beautiful pictures! And yes, you made me even more homesick for WA. I have nice pictures of cactus, I could put up on my blog?? Blech.
I love the pictures - When I was younger, we lived in Kent and had an awesome view of Mt. Ranier from the top of the hill we lived on. I miss that but I don't miss the rain :)
Amy :)
I hear ya! Im tired of rain, snow and grey right now! We have been having a great week though! Lots of sun... still chilly, but the sun makes it perfect!
Lisa
Well, now, we're practically on each other's doorstep. I recognize the pictures. You must be the Lisa that Kathy over at the Duckabush blog said to try to find. :>) Thanks for reminding me about the Clear Creek Trail. I had forgotten about it.
Many Blessings,

Nice pictures! I am ready to do the green challenge, but we have absolutely NO green around - we have about two feet of snow piled up outside our door. I am trying to wait patiently for some "green"!
Oh I will have to send you other pictures of the kids. Greg even got some video. He was asking her what she thought of the hike and she said... "DEATH" and collapsed to the ground. :o) It was classic Ry. :o)
Great shots from moon last night!
We still need to do this one, but we are just Busy... Busy... Busy... I don't see us getting to it until Sat. I will have to do 1 on Sat. and 2 when we go to Clear Creek Trail. :o)
You did a WONDERFUL job my dear friend!
~Tina
Great pictures! The bear one freaks me out...I have a thing.
Looks like a beautiful place to live. Isn't this challenge exciting?
I love the photos. Just beautiful. We are here in boring old North Texas where there is pretty much nothing but buildings!:) I am going to try to find some nature!:) I am not much of an outdoor girl but I am going to try. My kids will enjoy nature study even if I don't:) We are going to try doing the Green Hour next week.
Beautiful pictures! I never, ever get tired of looking at the mountains.
OK I'm so jealous. I would love to be able to practically walk out my door and see all those beautiful sights and trails to explore. I am definately a mountain girl. You have me yearning to go on a mtn. vacation. I'd love to see those though.!;')
Great pictures! We are trying to complete this cahllenge as well. :-) I am not an outdoorsy person but my children are so I will attempt it. Today, I have to renew my passport.....long story...and so may not get to it until tomorrow. Thanks for inspiring me.
Patricia
PS...Hasn't this week just been beautiful out here!?!
Patricia... this has been the best week! Sadly Monday and Tuesday I was out of commission... but oh... I have longed for sunshine on my skin!
I’m about to go enjoy it again today! I have done little school this week... yesterday was our only real day of school... the rest light... we are off to go enjoy the sunshine in a bit! Not sure how long it will last and I need this! The grey was becoming too much! It gets downright depressing…
I will look for your post soon then... *Ü* I know you will get some fantastic photos with that awesome camera you have!
Lisa
Great pics, Lisa! We are studying Astronomy this year but missed the eclipse at our home. :( It would've been great to view.
What beautiful pictures! Oh, and the bear claw marks! (whispers: yikes....LOL)
:-)

What a great walk! Okay, I have to say it..."I miss the Mountain!!!!" Glad I got it out of my system! Those bear marks are scary. Have you had any problems with them? I am seriously terrified of bears (and cougars) and that, unfortunately, did not allow me to experience WA the way I truly wanted. BUT...if we end up moving back into "bear country" I am NOT going to let my irrational fears get in the way! I am even reading a book called "Living with Bears"! LOL! You will have to tell me about your encounters and that I am totally off my rocker!
Missing WA...but glad to see it again through your pics!
Brittney
Great pictures!!! What a delightful place you live in...bears and all.
Lee
Great outside pictures, and I'm so jealous of the lunar eclipse pics! My camera just couldn't capture it :o(
