Homeschool Community and Fellowship
When I first began home schooling, I didn’t really know anyone who home schooled their children. I knew 2 families, and one of them was and is my dearest friend ever, but it was just us. Now this was ok mind you, but then she moved out of State, and I was very alone. She left in 1997/98, I cant remember the exact year.
Not to long after that we were given our first computer! "Insert screaming of excitement here". The world began to open up a little bit. I found many things online to help us, and encourage me as a home schooler, but still no "real" people. My kids were very young, and I had a desire to have friends who were home schoolers. It seemed we had all we needed to have a great home school, but what about resources and relationships locally?

I enjoyed your article over at Heart of the Matter. I have actually never been to a used curriculum sale. I think that is a great idea. i think every homeschooler has items that they don't use and would also like to have inexpensive items to purchase.
It would be a great way to socialize.
Thanks... it’s a lot of work, but I don’t mind it. Sometimes it’s the one time a year I get to see and visit with some folks. We live in a huge county so we don’t always bump into each other... and I’m not much for co-ops anymore so I really don’t get to see folks through the year... always busy at home or running kids around it seems now a days.
We always find good deals, and its a way for folks to freely advertise co-ops and classes and such. A place to make connections I guess... Its a lot of fun...
Thanks for stopping by!
